Lingtech is doing well

Linguistic and cultural services provider shows record profits

Linguistic and cultural services provider Lingtech A/S has managed to maintain its profits and revenue in a beleaguered market, showing gross profits of DKK 9.2 million, and a net result before tax of DKK 4.6 million.

Commenting on the result, Lingtech's managing director, Birgit Pichat, said: "We have remained focused on our core competencies in technical translation, while at the same time expanding our versatility, enabling us to take on tasks that lie beyond the traditional territory of translation."

These new tasks are exemplified by a very large quantity of presentation material that Lingtech handled for the Lundbeck Institute, involving around 1,000 PowerPoint slides and a number of videos. Lingtech was responsible for the execution of the graphic and typographical design, as well as for the subtitling of the videos … and only then did the company commence the task of translating the materials to a wide range of languages.

With its PaTrans system for the automatic translation of patents from English to Danish, Lingtech possesses a major advantage in relation to the competition from, in particular, East European translation agencies, who are dumping the market in terms of both price and quality. The PaTrans system was originally developed to handle chemical patents, but now, following considerable investment, the system is also capable of translating other types of technical texts.

Established in 1993, Lingtech A/S is Denmark's leading provider of linguistic and cultural services, and is one of the country's biggest translation agencies. The permanent staff of just under 20 employees handles the company's internal work and manages a highly skilled team of freelancers.
