Zacco Denmark A/S

In 1990, Denmark ratified the European Patent Convention, which resulted in a huge increase in the demand for patent translations. Traditionally, this task has been handled by engineers working for patent agencies, but two patent agencies, Hofman-Bang A/S and Lehmann and Ree A/S (who later merged to form Zacco Denmark A/S) wished to retain focus on their core competencies, release resources, and find a new solution to the translation problem.

The solution became the establishment of Lingtech in 1993, in order to outsource the steadily increasing amount of translation work.

In co-operation with CST, a machine translation system was developed which was specially adapted to the translation of patents. Over the years, Lingtech's processes have been adapted to match Zacco's working routines, and today - 11 years later – the partnership functions extremely well and profitably for both parties, and we supply Zacco with up to 100 translated patents a week.

The Lundbeck Institute

The Lundbeck Institute develops training materials for health professionals all over the world, which involves a great deal of production work and translations to many languages. In 2000, Lingtech was given the task of transferring 2,000 slides to PowerPoint, creating a source text as a basis for the translation process, and translating the slides and teacher's notes to produce three new language editions.

To save the Lundbeck Institute the enormous work of co-ordination involved, Lingtech took over project management of the production and translation of all of the training modules. Via our language technology and our extensive terminology databases, we could then safeguard consistency in all the Lundbeck Institute's materials. Lingtech has since then also entered into the design development for the project.

Our teamwork with the Lundbeck Institute resulted in a rapid and reliable production of high-quality materials, with a time to market of approximately four months for 1,000 slides in three languages. This allowed the Lundbeck Institute to focus on their core competencies.

Canon Denmark

Canon's office equipment manuals are prepared centrally and translated in the individual countries. As Canon Denmark does not have its own translation department, Lingtech is responsible for the translation and proofreading of the manuals. Three or four manuals and guides are produced for each new machine, so this can amount to a very large quality of text in the course of a year.

However, it is often the case that the new machines only have a few new functions, so Lingtech translates all the manuals from English to Danish using the Transit translation memory program. This means major savings for Canon Denmark, thanks to the possibility of recycling already translated texts, and also enables rapid updating every time a new model comes onto the market.
